INEC Revises Campaign Timeline for Osun Governorship Poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced a revision to the campaign timeline for the upcoming Osun State governorship election. This adjustment follows a shift in the election date, which has been moved to August 8, 2026, from its previous date.

The announcement was made in a press statement issued on Thursday, signed by the Commission Chairman, Moham Haruna. The new timeline stipulates that political campaigns must conclude by midnight on August 13, 2026, in accordance with Section 98(1) of the Electoral Act 2026, which mandates that campaigns end 24 hours before the election day.

INEC has urged all stakeholders, including political parties and candidates, to adhere strictly to the revised schedule to ensure a smooth electoral process. The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting credible elections across the country.
