INEC Adjusts Campaign Timeline for Osun Governorship Poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced a revision of the campaign timeline for the upcoming Osun State governorship election due to a shift in the election date. In a press statement issued on Thursday and signed by the National Commissioner in charge of voter education, Mohammed Haruna, INEC confirmed that the governorship poll has been rescheduled to February 26, 2026, moving it forward by one week.

Consequently, the deadline for political campaigns has been adjusted to midnight on August 13, 2026, in accordance with Section 98(1) of the Electoral Act 2026, which stipulates that campaigns must end 24 hours before the election day. INEC urged all stakeholders, including political parties and candidates, to comply strictly with the updated schedule to ensure a smooth electoral process.

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting credible elections across the country.
