INEC Delegation Observes Elections in South Korea

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, is heading a delegation for the International Election Observation Programme (IEOP) in South Korea, which runs from May 29 to June 5, 2026.

The program was officially launched by the South Korean National Election Commission (NEC) on Saturday, May 30, 2026, in Seoul. The event gathered electoral management bodies and election specialists from around the globe to share knowledge regarding the conduct of local government elections in South Korea.

Accompanying Prof. Amupitan are Mr.

Mai Agbamuch Mbu, Chief Technical Adviser, Prof. Dimi Mai Lafia, Director of Training, and Dr.

Binta Kasim. The INEC delegation is observing early voting activities at polling centers located in Mia Dong, Gangbuk Gu, Seoul, to acquire firsthand knowledge of South Korea's electoral processes and procedures.

This initiative is anticipated to enhance INEC's understanding of emerging trends and global best practices in electoral administration.
