Adeleke Accuses Oyetola of Election Rigging Plans

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola of allegedly plotting to manipulate the upcoming governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15. Adeleke's allegations were articulated in a statement from his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, following Oyetola's remarks to APC stakeholders, where he suggested that Adeleke should prepare for defeat.

Oyetola, a former governor who lost to Adeleke in 2022, dismissed Adeleke's endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election as insufficient for retaining his governorship. Adeleke interpreted Oyetola's comments as an open threat to the election's credibility and called for monitoring by democracy advocates.

He emphasized the need for a transparent electoral process, arguing that Oyetola's statements indicated a plan to undermine the election. Adeleke also accused Oyetola of damaging the APC's popularity in Osun and undermining President Tinubu's image through his actions.
