NNPP Faction Calls INEC Chairman Enemy of Democracy

Agbo Major, leading a faction of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has publicly accused Joash Amupitan, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), of being the "biggest enemy" of Nigeria's democracy. This statement was made during an interview with New Central Television on Friday.

Major's allegations center around Amupitan's purported failure to comply with court judgments related to disputes over the leadership of the NNPP, particularly concerning the party's 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso. Major emphasized that the INEC chairman's actions are detrimental to the democratic process in Nigeria.

He expressed that the party does not intend to resolve its issues through legal means, as they expect INEC to shift its position in accordance with judicial pronouncements.
