INEC Confirms Readiness for FCT Local Elections on Feb 21

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared its complete readiness to conduct the local council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on February 21, 2026. INEC's Administrative Secretary, Abimbola Oladunjoy, made this announcement during an interview with Arise Television on Monday.

She stated that preparations were finalized by Thursday, including the collection of sensitive materials from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and their direct transport to the councils. Oladunjoy noted that staff had undergone training on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machine configuration and voter registration printing, ensuring that they are ready for the elections.

She emphasized that all necessary materials have been sent to the area councils, and the sensitive materials will be moved directly to the councils ahead of the elections.
