APC Dominates Recent By-Elections Across Four States

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted by-elections across Gombe, Kano, Bauchi, and Delta states, resulting in the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning four out of five contested seats. Kallamu MaiJama'a of the APC secured the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye federal constituency seat with 41,121 votes, while the nearest competitor garnered 3,553 votes.

In the state assembly elections, Husseini Datti of the APC won the Dawakin Kudu constituency with 22,890 votes. In Delta, APC candidate Okolosi Ator won the Udu state constituency with 8,724 votes, while Yakubu Ali of the APC won the Disina constituency with 5,846 votes.

However, Adamu Yakubu of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) won the Sakwa constituency with 8,515 votes, defeating the APC. Reports indicated that the elections were largely peaceful, though low voter turnout was noted in Gombe and Kano, and there were disruptions in Delta due to BVAS device failures.

INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan stated that these by-elections would help improve the commission's readiness for the 2027 general elections.
