INEC Prepares for Kano By-Election on June 20

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has deployed non-sensitive election materials to Dawakin Kudu and Warawa Local Government Area ahead of the by-election scheduled for June 20. This election is to fill the vacancy left by the death of the lawmaker representing the constituency, Muhammad Hassan.

Abdul M. Zango, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kano State, disclosed this information during a meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) held at the Kano State Police Command headquarters.

Zango expressed confidence in the security arrangements put in place by relevant agencies, emphasizing that INEC is working closely with security agencies to ensure a peaceful, free, and credible election. He noted that the recent conduct of the Kano municipal Ungogo election occurred without incident, suggesting that the upcoming by-election will follow suit.

Lawal Isa Mani, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, and Ibrahim Adamu Bakori from the security agencies reviewed operational plans to ensure full preparedness for the exercise.
