INEC Reports Peaceful By-Election in Kano State

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reported that the by-election held in Dawakin Kudu, Kano State, was peaceful and hitch-free. Abdu Zango, the state resident electoral commissioner, described the electoral exercise as smooth and devoid of violence or rancor, with no cases of malfunction in the bimodal voter accreditation system (BVAS).

Three political parties participated: the All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), and Allied Peoples Movement (APM). The turnout was significant, particularly in Warawa, reflecting effective coordination and security measures.

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, along with local government chairman Lamido Sanusi Ahmad, commended the efforts of INEC and security agencies for ensuring a successful election. The police, represented by Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, confirmed no arrests or incidents of violence occurred during the exercise, marking a notable improvement compared to previous elections.
