INEC Clarifies Exclusion of Labour Party in FCT Council Elections Due to Leadership Crisis

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) explained its decision to withhold access codes from the Labour Party for the FCT Area Council Elections. The exclusion was due to the party's leadership crisis and multiple court cases.

The Labour Party had protested at INEC headquarters in Abuja, demanding access codes to upload candidate details. However, INEC stated that the matter was already sub judice, with the party's leadership crisis being settled by a Supreme Court ruling in April 2025.

Despite several lawsuits seeking access codes, INEC maintained its commitment to due process and awaited final determinations before taking further action.
