INEC Refuses to Recognize Abur-Led LP Candidates in FCT Council Polls Due to Disputes

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declined to acknowledge candidates led by Julius Abur in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) council polls, citing unresolved internal leadership conflicts within the Labour Party. This decision stems from a Supreme Court ruling in 2025 that invalidated Abur's leadership position.

Despite legal battles and multiple court cases filed by the Labour Party, INEC has stood by its exclusion of Abur's faction from the upcoming elections scheduled for February 21, 2026.
