INEC Finalizes 2027 Election Timetable Amid Legislative Delays

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has finalized the timetable for the 2027 general elections. INEC Chairman Prof.

Joash Amupitan disclosed this in Abuja, stating that the commission has completed its work on the election timetable. However, the schedule is awaiting legislative action on proposed amendments to the Electoral Act.

Amupitan emphasized that INEC remains committed to delivering credible elections. The timeline for adjustments will depend on when the National Assembly concludes work on amending the law.

Until the Electoral Act amendments are passed and signed into law, INEC will continue to carry out its responsibilities within the existing legal framework.
