INEC Deploys Materials for Gombe By-Election on September 19

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has initiated the deployment of sensitive electoral materials for the by-election in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, set for Saturday, September 19, 2026. The distribution occurred on Friday at the Central Bank of Nigeria premises in Gombe, with the materials scheduled to be moved to polling units across the constituency.

This exercise was attended by representatives from political parties, members of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security, security personnel, CBN officials, and journalists. Alhaji Umar Muktar Gajiram, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Gombe State, confirmed that the materials had been dispatched to the relevant local government areas and would be further distributed to individual polling units.

Gajiram emphasized the importance of conducting the exercise transparently to enhance public confidence in the electoral process and urged all political parties and candidates to respect the Peace Accord signed at the Gombe State Police Command, promoting a peaceful election environment.
