INEC Boosts Voter Education for Ekiti 2026 Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is intensifying its voter education efforts ahead of the Ekiti State governorship election set for June 20, 2026. During a high-level implementation meeting, Dr.

Bunmi Omoseyindemi, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ekiti State, emphasized that voter education is crucial for a credible electoral process. The commission aims to combat misinformation and strengthen public trust in the electoral system.

Key priorities include expanding voter awareness campaigns, tackling fake news, and promoting peaceful participation, particularly in rural communities and among first-time voters. Dr.

Omoseyindemi urged stakeholders to ensure inclusivity for women, youth, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups. Concerns were raised about misinformation, politically motivated narratives, voter apathy, and security risks.

Mr. Oluwakemi Akomoled, the Director of the National Orientation Agency, reiterated the agency's commitment to supporting INEC in promoting peace and civic awareness during the election.

The agency has already intensified voter education campaigns across local government areas through radio and television programs.
