INEC: Over 500,000 Nigerians Pre-register Online for CVR in Five Days

Over 500,000 Nigerians have pre-registered online for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in just five days, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The commission described the turnout as a strong indication of Nigerians' eagerness to participate in the democratic process.

INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu announced the impressive response, stating that the online phase of the CVR began on August 18, 2025, and will transition to physical registration on August 25, 2025. The physical registration will take place at 811 centers across the country.

INEC has launched a nationwide sensitization campaign to boost public participation in the voter registration process. The commission emphasized the importance of training for registration officers to ensure a successful CVR exercise.
