INEC Publishes Atiku Abubakar and Amaechi's Nomination Docs

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) published the personal particulars and nomination documents of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and his running mate, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, on Saturday. This publication aligns with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2026, which mandates the electoral commission to make candidates' details available for public scrutiny.

Atiku's documents reveal his educational qualifications, including a First School Leaving Certificate from 1954, a West African School Certificate from 1961, and a Master of Arts degree in International Relations obtained in 2020. His work history includes serving in the Nigerian Customs Service from 1969 to 1989 and as Vice President of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007.

Amaechi's documents show he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1970 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Port Harcourt in 1983. He served in the Rivers State House of Assembly and as Governor of Rivers State before becoming Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation from 2015 to 2022.

INEC's publication is part of the timetable for the 2027 general election.
