INEC Confirms Atiku Abubakar and 470 ADC Candidates

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recognized Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) along with 470 candidates under the leadership of David Mark for the 2027 general elections. This confirmation follows a Supreme Court judgment that affirmed the legitimacy of Mark's leadership.

INEC's Commissioner, Moham Haruna, stated that the Mark-led faction submitted a total of 471 candidates, which includes two presidential candidates, 109 senatorial candidates, and 360 House of Representatives candidates. However, INEC did not accept submissions from a rival faction led by Nafiu Gomb, which had lost its appeal.

The ADC has welcomed INEC's decision and accused Gomb of attempting to mislead the public by claiming access to INEC's nomination portal, which the party described as false. The ADC has called for investigations into these claims and emphasized that the court's decision regarding local congresses does not affect the validity of their primary elections.
