INEC Recognizes Hakeem Baba-Ahm as PRP Chairman

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially recognized Hakeem Baba-Ahm as the new chairman of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) one month after the party's convention held on March 28, 2026, in Abuja. Despite the convention being monitored, INEC initially failed to upload the names of the new executive members to its portal, raising concerns among party members about the legitimacy of the leadership.

The situation escalated when the party's national public secretary, Muham Ishaq, expressed alarm over the omission, prompting inquiries from members regarding the absence of key officials' names on the INEC portal. Following the outcry, INEC updated its records to include Baba-Ahm and other members of the national working committee, such as Kanu Uchenna (national secretary), Bayawo Abdullahi (national treasurer), Chuka Patrick (national financial secretary), and Vincent Okudu (national legal adviser).

This update signifies INEC's formal recognition of the PRP's new leadership, effectively resolving the brief controversy surrounding the party's convention.
