INEC Recognizes Hakeem Baba-Ahmed as PRP Chairman

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) updated its portal to formally recognize Hakeem Baba-Ahmed as the chairman of the People's Redemption Party (PRP) after a convention held in Abuja on March 28, 2026. This recognition came amid public outcry and protests regarding the delay in updating the electoral portal with the names of newly elected officials.

Concerns were raised by the party's national public secretary, Muham Ishaq Baba-Ahmed, regarding the absence of the new leadership on the INEC portal, which had not been updated for nearly a month after the convention. Following the backlash from party members, INEC updated the portal within 24 hours to include Baba-Ahmed and other members of the National Working Committee, such as Kanu Uchenna (national secretary), Bayawo Abdullahi (national treasurer), Chuka Patrick (national financial secretary), and Vincent Okudu (national legal adviser).

The swift update signaled INEC's formal recognition of the PRP's new leadership, alleviating uncertainties following the convention.
