INEC Recognizes Wike-Led PDP Leadership Amid Court Ruling

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally recognized the Nyesom Wike-led faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) after a Federal High Court ruling declared the rival faction led by Kabiru Turaki null and void. The court's decision, issued on November 2025, invalidated the convention held by the Turaki faction in Ibadan, which had elected party officials and suspended members in violation of the party's constitution.

Judge Joyce Abdulmalik ruled that INEC must recognize the Wike faction's leadership structure, which includes Abdulrahman Moham as national chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as national secretary. This ruling is seen as a major turning point in the PDP's ongoing leadership crisis, which has destabilized the party since it lost power at the federal level in 2015.

The Wike faction aims to consolidate party control and prevent further defections ahead of the next general elections.
