The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the redeployment of Mutiu Agbok from his role as the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Osun State to Ondo State. Agbok communicated this change through a message posted in the Osun INEC WhatsApp group on late Wednesday, expressing gratitude to the staff and stakeholders for their support during his tenure. This redeployment is part of INEC's strategic preparations leading up to the 2026 governorship elections. Agbok held a meeting on Tuesday with electoral stakeholders from various local government areas, including Atakunmosa West, Ilesa East, and Ilesa West, to explain the decision to suspend the voter revalidation exercise, which was made at INEC's national headquarters. During the meeting, participants discussed the need for collaborative efforts to enhance the electoral process and address challenges such as low voter turnout, logistical difficulties, and security arrangements for future elections.
