Osun Assembly Opposes INEC REC Transfer Amid Election Concerns

The Osun State Assembly expressed strong disapproval regarding the abrupt transfer of Dr. Mutiu Agbok, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This action was perceived as potentially compromising the electoral process in Osun State, particularly in light of the upcoming elections. The Assembly noted that such transfers were not observed in Ekiti State, where elections preceded those in Osun, raising suspicions about the motives behind the transfer.

They firmly stated that no administrative changes or deployments would override the will of the people of Osun State. The Assembly received credible reports suggesting plans to compromise the electoral integrity in the Ijesa Senatorial District.

They declared that any conduct of elections in Osun State must strictly adhere to constitutional laws, ensuring that the elections are free, fair, and credible.
