INEC Unveils Candidates for 2027 Gubernatorial Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) published the names and personal details of candidates for the 2027 gubernatorial elections on Saturday, using Form EC9. The elections are scheduled for February 6, 2027, with the nomination process running until February 4, 2027.

The list includes candidates' ages, educational qualifications, and other nomination details. Major political parties represented include the All Progressives Congress (APC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

In Oyo State, 16 candidates are contesting, including APC's Sharafadeen Alli. Lagos has 17 candidates, featuring incumbent Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat of the APC.

In Kaduna, Governor Uba Sani seeks re-election under the APC against 17 others. Other states like Delta, Sokoto, and Kwara also have multiple candidates, with notable figures such as Governor Dauda Lawal in Zamfara and Hyacinth Alia in Benue.
