INEC Suspends Warri Constituency Delineation Amid Security Concerns

INEC has suspended the Warri Constituency delineation due to security concerns, following a peaceful protest by Urhobo and Ijaw community members from Warri North, Warri South, and Warri Local Government Areas. The suspension of ward delineation will impact the Continuous Voter Registration exercise in the constituency.

This decision came after a demand for the implementation of a 2022 Supreme Court judgment mandating fresh delineation of electoral wards in Warri. INEC had started consultations in early 2023 following the court ruling, which declared the existing ward delineation in Warri outdated and unrepresentative of the population.
