INEC to Release Candidate Nomination Codes June 26, 2026

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will issue official access codes to political parties for candidate nomination purposes on June 26, 2026, as announced by Chairman Josiah Amupitan during a quarterly consultative meeting in Abuja. These access codes will allow political parties to upload the names and required information of their nominated candidates.

The announcement comes ahead of the Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for June 20, 2026. Amupitan noted that INEC has registered a total of 1,059,360 voters, reflecting an addition of 66,664 new voters during the first and second phases of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in 2023.

He emphasized the importance of addressing recent judicial pronouncements regarding INEC's timelines for electoral activities, particularly in light of two recent federal high court judgments. INEC is committed to ensuring a transparent and orderly electoral process as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
