Nine Political Parties Collect Codes for 2027 Elections

On Tuesday, Malam Moham Haruna, a representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), announced that nine political parties have collected access codes necessary for submitting candidates' particulars for the upcoming 2027 elections. Haruna explained that the process requires political parties to approach the commission to collect the codes rather than individuals.

He emphasized that any person seeking to collect the code on behalf of a political party must present an authorized letter from the party's leadership. INEC has issued guidelines for candidate nominations and has advised political parties to strictly adhere to these rules.

Haruna cautioned against waiting until the last minute to complete the online submission of nomination forms, noting that the commission has extended the deadline to midnight on July 11. He stated that if parties choose to wait until the deadline, they cannot blame INEC for any issues that arise.
