INEC Issues Access Codes for 2027 Elections Nominations

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that nine political parties have collected access codes to upload their candidates for the upcoming 2027 general elections. The parties include the Action Alliance (AA), African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), National Democratic Party (NDP), People's Redemption Party (PRP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Mohan Haruna, a representative from INEC, stated that the commission is responsible for voter education and has issued guidelines for candidate nominations. Political parties are required to collect the access codes through their authorized representatives and are advised to adhere strictly to the rules set by INEC.

The commission has established a timeline for the submission of nomination forms, with deadlines set from June 27 to July 11 for presidential and national assembly candidates, and from July 18 to August 8 for governorship and state assembly nominations. Haruna warned that parties should not wait until the last minute to submit their forms.
