ADC Faction Warns INEC Directive May Bar Candidates

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) faction has raised alarms regarding a directive from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that could bar them from fielding candidates in upcoming elections. Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC's national public secretary, stated that this move risks undermining the party's participation in the electoral process.

The ADC claims that INEC's decision to stop receiving correspondence from the party is based on a federal high court case and contradicts INEC's own records. The ADC has documented evidence, including a sworn affidavit from INEC, indicating that the leadership transition within the party has been completed.

Despite this, INEC has refused to accept communications from the ADC, which could lead to non-compliance with electoral timelines. The ADC is urging INEC to reverse its decision and continue receiving correspondence to uphold its constitutional duty.

This situation arises amid a prolonged leadership crisis within the ADC, following disputes over the tenure of former chairman Ralph Nwosu.
