INEC Releases Final Candidate List for 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the Presidential and National Assembly elections set for January 16, 2027. The Turaki faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), which is not recognized in the INEC list, is pursuing legal action to have their candidates included instead of the Wike faction. There are speculations regarding Wike's loyalty to President Tinubu, with suggestions that he may be strategically positioning himself for the 2031 elections.

Despite these speculations, some believe Wike is currently working to support Tinubu's campaign in 2027. The dynamics within the PDP and the influence of Wike's Rainbow Coalition, particularly in Rivers State and beyond, are critical to watch as the elections approach.
