INEC Unveils 2027 Presidential Candidates List

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2027 Nigerian presidential election, which includes 18 candidates. The list, signed by INEC Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony, features President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Other candidates include Oyo State Governor Oluseyi Makinde of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Sandy Ojang Onor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Donald Duke of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP). The candidates' ages range from 35 to 79, with Atiku being the oldest at 79 and Moses Adebisi of the Democratic Labour Alliance (DLA) being the youngest at 35.

The list also includes two women among the presidential candidates and four women among the vice-presidential candidates. The elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027, following political parties' primaries held between April 23 and May 30, 2026.
