Infantino Promotes Global Youth Football Growth Initiatives

FIFA President Gianni Infantino outlined his vision for expanding football globally during a visit to the Dominican Republic, where he met with representatives of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) at the CFU U-14 Challenge Series event. Infantino expressed his commitment to developing football in all 211 FIFA member countries, aiming to bridge the gap between established football nations and emerging ones.

He proposed the introduction of a U-15 World Cup that would include participation from all member associations, potentially allowing over 4,000 young players to showcase their talents at what he termed a “festival of youth.” Infantino highlighted the necessity for financial backing from sponsors, broadcasters, and business partners to facilitate these initiatives, particularly in regions where football can significantly impact youth development. He called for increased investment to ensure opportunities for both genders in football on a global scale.
