Infantino Pressured to Disclose FIFA World Cup Proposal Details

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has been called upon to release documents related to his abandoned World Cup commercial rights proposal and to answer outstanding questions regarding the matter. This demand arose after a three-and-a-half-hour FIFA Council meeting held in Zurich on October 15.

The meeting was the first since details of the secret FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) proposal surfaced, which Infantino had abandoned shortly after its disclosure. Debbie Hewitt, chair of the Football Association and FIFA vice-president, reported that Infantino apologized during the meeting but did not provide answers to specific questions raised by council members.

Hewitt expressed disappointment over the lack of transparency, stating that Infantino must address these questions to be deemed fit for his role. She noted that Infantino's apology seemed insincere, particularly regarding his failure to present the proposal to the council prior to its public revelation.

The meeting also touched on other issues, including a suspended red-card ban involving Folarin Balogun.
