FA Chair Demands FIFA Release World Cup Rights Documents

Debbie Hewitt, chair of the Football Association and FIFA vice-president, has formally requested FIFA president Gianni Infantino to disclose all documents related to FIFA's controversial plan to sell a stake in the commercial rights of the World Cup. In a letter addressed to Infantino and FIFA secretary general Mattias Grafstrom, Hewitt emphasized the need for transparency before the FIFA Council meeting on 15 October.

The letter also sought a written explanation regarding the suspension of a one-match ban for United States forward Folarin Balogun, who received a red card during a World Cup match against Bosnia-Herzegovina. FIFA had suspended the ban for one year, allowing Balogun to play in subsequent matches, but did not provide a detailed rationale.

The controversy surrounding the FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal, which aimed to create a new company for managing FIFA's commercial rights, has led to legal actions from UEFA and accusations of a smear campaign against Infantino.
