Nigeria's Ministries Collaborate to Enhance Immigration Reforms

On Tuesday, Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information, visited Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, in Abuja to discuss collaboration aimed at amplifying federal reforms.

Idris emphasized the importance of effective communication to ensure the Nigerian public is informed about government actions, particularly in relation to immigration and visa processes. He noted that under President Bola Tinubu's administration, significant reforms have been initiated, including the removal of oil subsidies and exchange rate adjustments.

The partnership will focus on clarifying processes within the Ministry of Interior, especially concerning visa and immigration issues. The Ministers aim to align messaging to help Nigerians understand new digital initiatives, such as a contactless passport application system, which allows citizens, including those in the diaspora, to renew passports without visiting embassies.

This reform is expected to alleviate the backlog of passport applications and improve service delivery.
