NECA Endorses AI Initiative for Nigeria's Border Security

The Nigeria Employers' Consultative Association (NECA) has expressed support for the Ministry of Interior's recent announcement regarding the deployment of an artificial intelligence-driven system to monitor travel and identify visa overstays. NECA's Director General, Adewale Smatt Oyerind, welcomed this initiative as a significant step towards modernizing Nigeria's migration management framework and enhancing the country's ability to address irregular migration.

The AI system is expected to improve oversight and strengthen border management by analyzing travel records and identifying immigration violations. Oyerind emphasized the importance of integrating digital systems within security institutions to support regulatory enforcement and protect Nigeria's borders.

He also noted that this initiative aligns with broader reforms currently being undertaken across the Ministry's agencies, particularly the Nigeria Immigration Service. NECA reaffirmed its readiness to support government efforts aimed at strengthening national security and fostering a stable business environment in Nigeria.
