Ministries of Interior and Information Partner for Reform

The Ministries of Interior and Information have established a partnership aimed at improving public awareness and service delivery in Nigeria. This collaboration was highlighted during a high-level visit where Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information, received Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior.

Tunji-Ojo emphasized the critical need for coordinated communication to ensure Nigerians are fully informed about government achievements under the Renewed Hope Agenda. Notable accomplishments include the clearance of 204,000 pending passport applications, the introduction of contactless passport renewals for Nigerians abroad, and the establishment of Nigeria's first centralized passport personalization center in Abuja.

Additionally, advancements in border management technology were discussed, including the deployment of advanced passenger information systems and electronic immigration gates at major airports. Tunji-Ojo also announced the enrollment of 130 million Nigerians in the national identity database and the launch of the ECOWAS biometric identity card.

The partnership aims to enhance transparency and citizen engagement while showcasing Nigeria's progress in governance and security.
