Inquest Rules Three Nigerian Sisters Drowned in Brighton

An inquest at Woodvale Coroner’s Court in Brighton confirmed that three sisters of Nigerian descent—Jane Adetoro (36), Christina Walters (32), and Rebecca Walters (31)—took their own lives by drowning in the sea on May 13. The sisters lived in Greenford, west London, and had led secluded lives following their mother Janice Adetoro's drowning in 2010.
Evidence revealed they traveled to Birmingham on May 11, visiting the site of their mother’s death before returning to London. On May 12, they took a taxi to Brighton, arriving at the seafront at 10:21 PM.
CCTV footage showed them walking along the beach, with their last sighting at 2:42 AM on May 13. The RNLI lifeboat crew recovered their bodies, confirming drowning as the cause of death, with no drugs or alcohol found.
Christina had a history of anxiety and depression, while Jane and Rebecca had no recorded mental health issues. Their father, Joseph Jacobson, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of all three daughters.
