Father mourns three daughters lost in boat tragedy

On Saturday at approximately 1pm, a boat accident occurred, resulting in the deaths of three sisters, Murjanatu, Atikatu, and Bilkisu, who were returning home after assisting their brother, Usman Abdulhadi, with rice harvesting. Their father, Malam Abdulhadi Suleiman, 55, recounted that the boat capsized unexpectedly in the middle of the water, and Usman was unable to rescue them.

Despite the swift response from neighbors, who attempted to rescue the girls with three additional boats, those efforts also ended in tragedy as the rescue boats capsized. A messenger was sent to Yalwan Rugu-Rugu to alert the community, leading to around 200 people mobilizing to the scene.

Unfortunately, by the time the girls were recovered around 3:30pm, it was too late. Malam Abdulhadi expressed his devastation over the loss, stating he had hoped for his daughters to continue their education.

The girls were buried according to Islamic rites, and the community remains in shock over the incident.
