Atiku Abubakar Calls for Urgent Action Against Terrorism

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar reacted to the escalating wave of terrorist attacks in Nigeria, describing it as a serious threat to the country's peace, unity, and stability. In a statement shared on his official X account on Saturday, he condemned the ongoing acts of terror and violence against innocent citizens, extending condolences to the victims and affected communities.

Atiku urged the government to intensify efforts to address the worsening security situation, emphasizing that it is the foremost responsibility of the government to protect lives and property. He called for renewed urgency in coordinating responses to confront the challenges posed by terrorism and restore public confidence.

His remarks came amid a fresh wave of deadly attacks, including a coordinated assault on a military base in Benisheikh that resulted in the death of a soldier and 29 members of the task force brigade. Other incidents included attacks in Kaduna and Gwer East, highlighting the persistent threat from Boko Haram and its splinter group, ISWAP.
