Traditional Ruler Murdered in Ebonyi State Palace Attack

On Wednesday night, HRH Ez Jehoshaphat Ikegwu, a traditional ruler from Ishinkwor Community in Onicha Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen who gained access to his palace. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the assailants fired through a window, fatally wounding the monarch in his bedroom while his wife was present.

The incident has caused panic among residents, who expressed fears about the worsening security situation in the area. Ikechukwu Ogbofia, the chairman of Onicha Local Government Area, confirmed the murder and condemned the attack, describing it as barbaric and unacceptable.

He disclosed that security agencies have been mobilized to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and to bring the perpetrators to justice. This tragic event marks the fifth murder of a traditional ruler in Ebonyi State in recent times, highlighting growing concerns over targeted attacks on community leaders.
