Ekiti State Launches Biometric Registration for Riders

The Ekiti State Government has commenced a biometric registration exercise for commercial motorcycle and tricycle riders as part of efforts to curb criminal activities and strengthen security in the state. This initiative, directed by Kehind Ajobiew, the Commissioner for Transport, began on July 6, 2023, and will continue until July 18, 2023.

Riders who do not register by the deadline will face sanctions under the state’s transport regulations. Ajobiew emphasized the importance of this exercise during a stakeholders' meeting in Ado Ekiti, stating that it aims to create a comprehensive database of operators to facilitate proper identification and curb criminal activities associated with unregistered transport operators.

The registration will be conducted by the Ekiti State Board of Internal Revenue across all 16 local government areas. Governor Biodun Oyebanji's administration is committed to improving public safety and the welfare of transport operators through this initiative.
