Oyo Governor Makinde Signs Order to Restrict Okada Hours

On October 25, 2023, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde signed Executive Order 002 of 2026, which restricts the operation of commercial motorcycles, commonly referred to as "okada," during the hours of 10:30 PM to 5:30 AM. This executive order is part of broader measures to improve security in the state, particularly in response to the discovery of unregistered motorcycles being used in criminal activities, including recent abductions in the Ogbomoso area.

Governor Makinde emphasized the necessity of this order to strengthen the state's security architecture and protect the lives and properties of citizens. He urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies, assuring them that the government is committed to ensuring the safe return of abducted individuals.

Oyo State Attorney General Abiodun Aikomo explained that the order provides a legal framework for enforcing vehicle registration and traffic management to combat crime effectively.
