Sokoto Senator Lamido Plans Exit from APC Over Insecurity

Ibrahim Lamido, the senator for Sokoto East, has expressed his intention to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) primarily due to ongoing insecurity and the government's inadequate response to bandit attacks in his constituency. Speaking to journalists in Sokoto, Lamido highlighted the devastation caused by bandits, which has led to the displacement of residents and destruction of livelihoods.

He criticized the federal government's failure to address the worsening security situation, stating that previous efforts to secure federal intervention have yielded little result, leaving people to endure significant hardship. Lamido emphasized that his decision to leave APC is driven by the need to prioritize the security and development of his constituents rather than personal political interests.

He has consulted with political associates and community leaders to reach a consensus on this move. While he did not disclose his next political destination, it has been reported that he may defect to the African Democratic Congress.
