Gumi: Herdsmen Revolt Due to Longstanding Injustices

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a renowned Islamic cleric based in Kaduna, revealed that herdsmen are revolting over longstanding injustices, including issues related to cattle rustling and social injustices. In a Facebook post seen by Polit Nigeria on Tuesday, Gumi reiterated his long-held stance that the Nigerian government should offer amnesty to herdsmen, similar to the amnesty given during President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua's administration.

He expressed concern over the potential for widespread violence and loss of human life if the grievances of the herdsmen are not addressed. Gumi's comments come amid ongoing discussions about the insurgency and the need for understanding between the government and various militant groups.

He criticized the government's failure to engage with the issues effectively, stating that listening to the grievances could avert a significant humanitarian crisis.
