Kebbi State Deploys 3,000 Vigilantes, Including Women, to Boost Security Amid Rising Insecurity

Kebbi State, under the leadership of Governor Nasir Idri, has taken proactive measures to address rising insecurity by deploying 3,000 vigilantes, with women included, to strengthen community protection and support security agencies. The state has initiated a comprehensive training program where 500 vigilant hunters per batch from 21 local government areas undergo a 14-day tactical training program in Kalgo Local Government Area.

The training covers various aspects such as intelligence gathering, human rights, first aid, weapon handling, and signaling. The vigilantes are drawn from different security outfits including the Nigerian Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigerian Army, and Vigilant Group Nigeria.

The program aims to enhance security in the face of challenges like banditry, cattle rustling, and kidnapping in the North West region. Governor Idri emphasizes the importance of community participation and promises sustained logistical support for the vigilantes.
