Bandits Attack Security Operatives in Kebbi, Police Respond

On February 20, 2023, at approximately 9:45 PM, bandits launched an attack on security operatives along the Maje border road in Bagudo Local Government Area, Kebbi State. The Kebbi Police Command's spokesman, Bashir Usman, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Saturday from Birnin Kebbi.

The assailants allegedly advanced under the cover of darkness while herding cattle to conceal their approach. The police's Counter Terror Unit (CTU) responded swiftly, engaging the attackers and forcing them to retreat.

Although the temporary security structures were damaged during the encounter, there were no reported casualties or injuries. The Commissioner of Police for Kebbi State, Umar Mohammed Hadeija, urged residents, particularly herders and livestock owners, to refrain from moving cattle at night to avoid exploitation by criminal elements.

He emphasized that security agencies would take firm legal action against any suspicious movements linked to unlawful activities. Usman encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
