Kogi Monarchs Strengthen Ties with Security Agencies

During a meeting held at the palace of Oba Solomon Owoniyi in Kabba, traditional rulers from the Okun Area Council resolved to strengthen collaboration with security agencies to tackle insecurity in Okunland. The meeting, attended by first-class traditional rulers from five local government areas, reviewed security challenges affecting peace and development in the region.

A statement issued by Oba Owoniyi commended President Bola Tinubu and Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo for their efforts in improving security in the district. The monarchs stressed the need for a stronger collaboration with security agencies and proposed a community-based approach to involve the populace in the fight against insecurity.

They also discussed strategies to address common threats and proposed a unit approach to resolve disputes, including a recent matter involving two traditional rulers in Yagba West Local Government Area. The meeting concluded with an endorsement of the progress made under the current administration regarding security infrastructure and intelligence gathering.
