Ohanaeze Ndigbo Urges Legalization of Light Arms for Nigerians Amid Rising Insecurity

Ohanaeze Ndigbo has urged the Nigerian government and National Assembly to legalize light arms bearing for adult Nigerians to protect worshippers during religious activities. The organization also praised the joint security forces for their successful operations against banditry and kidnapping.

The statement highlighted the need for stringent penalties for violators, especially Fulani herdsmen encroaching on farmlands. Additionally, they warned of potential security threats from ISWAP, bandits, and Boko Haram in the North.
