Plateau State Declares 'State of War' Against Terrorism

Plateau State has officially declared a 'state of war' against terrorists, a decision made during an emergency meeting of the Plateau State Security Council convened by Governor Caleb Mutfwang at the Rayfield Government House. This declaration follows a series of coordinated attacks recorded across the state over the past four months.

The meeting, attended by security chiefs and local government chairmen, reviewed the critical security situation and adopted several measures aimed at protecting lives and property. Among the resolutions, the council decided to strengthen enforcement of existing restrictions on motorcycle operations at night and to address illegal mining activities believed to contribute to insecurity.

The council directed security agencies to recover ungoverned territories and to support security operations with additional logistics, including motorcycles for rapid response. Furthermore, the government emphasized the need for improved intelligence sharing and collaboration with local government security structures to ensure public order and safety, especially ahead of the farming season.
