Police Assure North-Central Nigeria of Safer Schools

On Monday, during an inspection tour in Lafia, Nasarawa State, Deputy Inspector General of Police Isyaku Mohammed assured residents of North-Central Nigeria of efforts to ensure safer schools despite ongoing insecurity issues, including kidnappings. He urged parents and guardians to prioritize their children's education.

The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed the deployment of adequate police personnel across the region to combat kidnapping and enhance security. Mohammed highlighted the need for strategic reviews and logistics improvements to address the challenges faced by the police, particularly in difficult terrains.

He reported that the Nasarawa State Police Command had arrested 35 suspects for various offenses, including kidnapping and illegal possession of firearms, and had rescued 17 kidnapping victims. The police are committed to maintaining law and order, especially with the upcoming 2027 general elections, ensuring a crime-free environment for eligible Nigerians to exercise their franchise.
